Charlotte Triebus choreographed the 25-minute piece for three dancers and a robotic swarm drawing from philosophical discourse on agents, contemporary dance and calibration poses. By means of digitally inspired movement qualities, algorithmic patterns and well composed constellations of the eight elements, a common language of movement and composition develops beyond dissimilar forms of body and ontologies.

During the performance, spheres and performers develop a shared form of communication and interaction alluding to swarm principles including both – human and robotic dancing bodies. This results in a graphic and explorative study on movement, techno-flocks and agency.

Mirevi developed tracking solutions, software and robots for the piece. Previous versions of Spheres have been addressed in talks and presentations at various festivals and conferences, among others at Tanzhaus NRW or Festspielhaus Hellerau. Spheres premiered with its latest version in August 2021 and has been exhibited at NRW Forum Düsseldorf until January 2022 including a permanent installative version of the piece and several live shows.A blog entry on the artistic research process can be accessed here.
