For almost 100 years, superheroes have saved humanity countless times. Starting in the 1930s in the USA, they have evolved into a global fascination. The superheroes represent humanity’s wishes, hopes and dreams and a vision for the defence of democracy.
Now, the NRW-Forum presents more than 1600 pieces on a 1200m² area, showing comics, original drawings, sculptures, action toys as well as film excerpts and art installations. Our media art installation “You are a superhero!” invites visitors to become their own superhero. Using a photograph as a base, the visitor can chose how their alter ego portrays themselves. In a second step, they can view them life-sized or send them to their email as a souvenir.
