On January 11, 2026, the HSD research group MIREVI took part in the program “Fast Forward” at Ludwig Forum Aachen with two interactive installations and a talk. In the context of Shu Lea Cheang’s exhibition KI$$ KI$$ (on view until mid-March, see here), the event explored urgent questions about whether AI will become a curse or a blessing for society—and how art can help negotiate these uncertain futures. Presented under the title “Speculative Future“ MIREVI’s two real-time, generative AI works invited visitors to step in front of an AI funhouse mirror and imagine themselves far ahead in time—toward the year 3020.

Created by Soren Ali and Philipp Dilchert, the installations attracted strong interest from roughly 80–100 visitors, who engaged with the pieces like a futuristic photo booth while reflecting on what today’s technological acceleration might mean for people, the environment, and society. In addition, Dominik Bönisch Alpári contributed a talk on “AI slop,” tracing the rise of low-value, auto-generated content that increasingly clutters digital spaces and social media feeds, and opening up discussion about the cultural consequences of generative AI.

Overall, the program combined playful access with critical debate and showed how museums can make cutting-edge technology approachable while encouraging public reflection.
